Thursday was the 6th birthday of the Apple App Store. So far, 65 billion apps have been downloaded from Apple's software store, and developers have made ১৫ 15 billion. Now mobile analytics company Adjust says that about 60 percent of the 1.2 million iOS apps in the App Store are virtually "dead" - meaning that no one is downloading the 80% of these apps.
These unpopular apps are known as 'Zombie Apps'. In June of this year, 80% of the apps in the App Store were identified as 'Zombie' by Adjust. This amount was 75% in December last year and 80% in June.
60,000 new apps are being added to the App Store every month. However, these softwares are not coming to the notice of the users properly. Adjust says only one-fifth of the app was unveiled to users last JuneApple used to provide a list of the top 350 apps in the App Store. But now only 150 apps are being shown there. As a result, many people are no longer looking beyond those 150 apps.
Adjust's report also says that 21 percent of the apps that came to the App Store in the last one year have been deleted. These may have violated Apple's policies or the developer himself may have removed the app for some reason.
